Call of Duty Reinvents WWII!

Call of Duty World at War Trailer

The Call of Duty the World War II themed game won a host of Awards at the UK’s Golden Joystick, the game industries equivalent to the Oscars, Awards in 2008.

The popular video game franchise scooped five awards at the Award Ceremony.

The franchise’s most recent game in the series, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, received no less than three game of the year awards, and was honored with the Nuts All-Nighter award, given to the game with the most addictive game-play, and the forthcoming Call of Duty: World at War won Play.com's One to Watch award. The publisher weren’t left out either with Activision being named UK publisher of the year.

What’s even more impressive about these awards is that over 856,000 votes were cast.

One of the awards reps was quoted as saying "Gaming is the UK's fastest-growing pastime." And it seems COD will garner more than its share of these new gamers!

COD is a refreshing change in an already crowded genre of games. The developers at Infinity Ward have gone the extra mile to present a game that brings the player closer to the game with decent voice acting and realistic events.

With its the cinematic intensity and amazing special effects, including realistic depth of field, rim-lighting, character self-shadowing, texture streaming, fog and water effects, and also the great detail spent on the small things all in all it adds up to one of the most photo-realistic gaming experiences ever

On top of all this COD 4: Modern Warfare arms gamers with an arsenal of advanced and powerful modern day firepower and transports them to the most treacherous hotspots around the globe to take on a rogue enemy group threatening the world.

Featuring more than 70 new and authentic weapons and gear from assault rifles with laser sites, claymore mines, .50 caliber sniper rifles, to M-249 SAW machine guns and then there’s the accessories like night-vision goggles and ghillie suits, for maximum concealment.

COD 4: Modern Warfare has players locked and loaded to accomplish the mission.

COD: World at War brings an uncensored edge to combat, as soldiers face the most harrowing and climatic European and Pacific battles in which an enemy, who knows no surrender and no retreat, will fight to the last breath, unleashing an arsenal of lethal surprising tactics.

Peril and danger lurk throughout the battlefield as players combat the unknown risk of the new chaos of battle.
