The Making of CyGorCyGor began life, much like his old friend Al Simmons, as a soldier, but like his friend he to was used and thrown aside by the generals like some unwanted piece of trash. Well, now he's back and looking for revenge!
But what happened to the man that Cygor once was? Who was he and where is he now? Well... The story begins with a group in the government trying to make the perfect soldier... and Al Simmons, however, is an agent in another branch of the government.
Most of the experiments to create a progressive formula in the Youngblood contention by this agency did not end up well and the only remaining hurdle in is a file that would be used to make the project more controllable. And Al Simmons, being the best agent and with unmatched capabilities in espionage, is sent to retrieve the file and deliver it to Jason Wayne, his boss. Simmons had trained another agent, a friend called Smith, in extra secret ways that were not taught in the academy to follows in his bloody footsteps. Together they entrench themselves in web of tragedy and espionage and become good friends. The agency employs a scientist in the field of cybernetics, doctor Fredrick Willheim, to create the perfect super soldier for them.
The experiment is supposed to transfer the human thought process to an ape's body and although this seems impossible Willheim is capable of accomplishing this by using current day technology. The only hurdle is that the doctor cannot transplant the human brain to the ape due to the perception of pain. The only option is the introduction of the human mind to the ape in small percentages. The ideal ratio for this to work is thought to be a ratio of 90:10 human to ape. The agency provides a giant ape to be used and... the brain of one of their best soldiers, highly trained and skilled in military combat, the brain of agent Smith.
The process of integrating the brain with that of an ape was taking too long and the agency started to introduce deadlines and making financial cutbacks that led to extra pressure on the doctor. The stress from the experiment and overworking finally led to the death of the doctor halfway through the project. The new creature created, in these experiments was referred to as CyGor (half gorilla and half cyborg) first appeared in Spawn forty to forty two. The ration of the ape to human brain led to overriding the primal patterns, but this also blocked the human side when creature became angry therefore the human side only emerged when it was in a more sedate mood. Cy-Gor is able to deal with problem solving as well as experiencing emotions but Smith's brain directs CyGor to take revenge both for himself and his mentor, Al Simmons. The emergence of this new character tightens the web even further since Simmons haD already transformed into the Hellspawn and CyGor is transversing New York looking for Simmons and the agency in turn is tracking him to place him under control.
