What Is The Gears of War Boomer?

The Gears of War Boomer is an alien race of soldiers and part of the Locust Horde army. They are considered to be among the not so "sophisticated" of the Locust breed in both physical and mental attributes.

Physically, this creature stands taller than an ordinary human being and weighs twice as much. Enormous and tough, they are obviously slow moving in the battlefield and are hard to put down once engaged in a fight.

The Gears of War Boomer's mentality is on a similar scale to that of the dinosaur because despite their huge size they have very little intelligence, almost child like.

They were obviously named after their habit of shouting "boom" before firing their massive guns, thereby easily giving away their positions. Therefore hiding for cover is as easy as making pie due to the Boomers' slow reloading guns and their habit of shouting out loud before even taking a shot. Stupid aliens indeed!

But what the Gears of War Boomer lack in speed and intelligence they make up for in firepower. Their main weapon called the massive "Boomshot", is a devastating combination of grenade and rocket launcher that can fire in short or mid-range bursts and can annihilate an enemy with a single shot. These Boomers are also referred to as the "Grenadiers" in the Locust frontline because of this armament.

But there are four other categories of Gears of War Boomer and you can easily identify them by the weapons they carry:

The Butcher Boomer carries razor-sharp cleavers and are mostly found inside the Locust base camp (called "Hollows") chopping up Rockworms and preparing it as chow for the hungry Locust soldiers. Although they may not be considered soldiers in the battlefield, Butchers are still just as dangerous as their compatriots.

The Flame Boomers are those armed with flamethrowers and wear heavy metal protective gears to protect them in battle. Like most Boomers, they are also susceptible to headshots thus the protective helmets. The only way to kill one of these brutes is to shoot their flamethrower tanks until it explodes or tap a grenade into one of them.

The Grinders are the cover fire of the Locust army. They carry a powerful gun called the "Mulcher" which fires a continuous spray of gunfire on the battlefield. Much like a rail gun, it blasts off ammunition like rain and the only way to get to them is patience. Wait till the Grinders reload or for their guns to overheat and jam before returning fire.

The Maulers are known to be the most aggressive of the Boomers squad. Heavily armored with deployable Boomshields to protect them from gunfire, Maulers attack their enemies armed only with melee weapons on chains that have explosive tips. Mauler Boomers are feared for their kamikaze-style assault on the battlefield swinging at anyone unfortunate enough to stand in their way.

Although these Locust soldiers are formidable due to their brute strength and firepower, they all have an Achilles heel and that is their intelligence. Boomers have a penchant for human annihilation and only simple tactics and wits will go a long way in order to survive a confrontation with these species.
