The Halo Legendary Collection is a totally new concept for McFarlane Toys.

McFarlane have released a whole host of action figures from the Halo 3 universe since they acquire their license, but so far these have consisted of 6 inch poseable action figures only.

Well, it seems that McFarlane has realised that the older, more discerning fans and collectors want a piece of the action as well.

The result?

The Halo 3 Legendary Collection.

Featuring three highly detailed, non-articulated large scale "action figures" (perhaps McFarlane's first attempt to break into the lucrative collectors statuette market?).

These figures are a departure from McFarlanes usual style as these are NOT Toys, whereas previously McFarlane has generally targetted the "toy market", although generally their action figures have been aimed at the higher end of the market and the more traditional collector.

But the emphasis here is on their unique look and attention to the smallest detail to re-create a realistic replica of in-game play without the "playability" of their more traditional figures.

These figures WILL NOT be available in your local high street store but will be limited to speciality stores only.

Due to be released in November, 2008, so make sure you add them to your Christmas list!

The Legendary Collection will include:

• Master Chief
• The Arbiter
• Brute Chieftian

Each of these figures/statues comes packaged in a large blister box which, although it looks very nice and displays the figure inside prominently, is unlikely to hold up well to stacking and packing very well which is unlikely to please MIBers.

But that said these are clearly meant to be displayed out of the box so were probably thought to be adequate.

Each does also come with very limited articulation but I haven't really gone into this as ot is negligible and doesn't really allow any major changes in the pose.

If your a die-hard Halo fan or collector then these offer excellent value for money and are well worth the 20 bucks investment.

But for the casual gamer or collector I would suggest you stick to the regular figures which offer much better value, posability and "playability".

BTW for those of you collecting HALO Points, each of these figures is worth 25.

• Master Chief

McFarlanes Halo Legendary Collection adds a whole new element to their growing range of Halo products.

With the soon to be released 3-inch Heroic Collection, their highly collectible and popular 5- inch Halo 3 figures, the awsesome 12-inch Spartans and now these they must have just about every scale and market covered.

The Legendary Collection is different in that they are designed as "statues" rather than toys.

Master Chief is sculpted here fighting off a swarm of Flood.

The Master Cheif stands at a little over 5-inches in height, his shotgun cocked and ready to take on the Flood. The detail in the sculpting is perfect and the addition of the attacking Flood really adds to the overall effect of this diorama.

McFarlane has done an excellent job here of capturing the look and feel of the game and bringing it to life in 3-D.

There is a little assembly required but its hardly challenging and is fairly straight forward. The Master Chief plugs onto two pegs located on the stony base and the Flood, attached to black metal rods, slide into corresponding holes.

Unfortunately the paintwork doesn't hold up so well to close scrutiny.

Master Chief is a light green but the Flood more life-like in their hues of brown and red, which gives the overall piece a murky look.

The Master Chief has a metallic sheen to his armor which would have been OK if not for the Flood's muddy look.

Measures 5.25 inches at top of helmet.

Articulated at neck, shoulders and ankles.

Includes shotgun, three flood figures and 6.25-inch by 3.75-inch deep base.

• Arbiter

The Arbiter figure has been sculpted atop a rocky hill set to impale some poor soul with his pulsating Plasma Sword.

The Arbiter is the easiest of these to assembly as he simply slides onto two pegs clearly outlined on the base.

This diorama is also slightly bigger than the Master Chief and stands approx 6.5-inches at its highest point.

The stand, like Master Chief's is fairly barren though and could do with some debris or ruined buildings etc. to add to its overall effect.

On 7.25-inch wide by 3.75-inch deep base, figure stands 6.5 inches at highest point (right shoulder armor).

Articulated at shoulders and right hip.

Includes energy sword.

• Brute Chieftian

The Brute Chieftain is probably the best of the three with his massive Gravity Hammer, he is also by far the largest of the trio, standing a whopping 8.75-inches in height.

The Brute is assembled by sliding him onto two pegs like the rest, but his Gravity Hammer comes in two halves that have to be positioned just right in order to be plugged together.

A nice addition to this "statue" is that his helmet can be removed unlike the smaller 5-inch version.

Figure measures 6 inches at top of head (7.5 inches at top of headpiece when in place); 8.75 inches at top of raised left arm.

Articulated at neck, elbows, wrists, hips and ankles.

Includes 7.5-inch wide by 4.25-inch deep custom base.

What are Halo Points?

Halo Points is a reward program for buying McFarlane Toys' Halo® 3 action figures and vehicles. Every figure and vehicle comes with a number of points. Simply save these points and redeem them for free Halo products. Halo Points are located on the figure or vehicle packaging, on the UPC bar code, as shown to the right. You must be 17 or older to participate.

The Halo Points program officially begins Winter 2008. We are not yet accepting points or mailing rewards. We just want you to know what you have to look forward to!
