Season one of the critically acclaimed Heroes ran for 23 episodes and gained an average of 14.3 million viewers in the United States.

Entitled Genesis it introduces a group of seemingly normal people who discover they have special "abilities" and the effects this has on their personal and professional lives, as well as dealing with their emotional reactions to these "abilities".

The season of Heroes also introduces several people who are investigating the origins of the Heroes abilities. One of these individuals is Mohinder Suresh who is a geneticist continuing the work of his late father into the biological source of these "abilities" and then there is Noah Bennet who represents a secret organization known only as the "Company".

The main story arcs for Heroes season one centers around the Company's attempts to control those people with "super powers", whether willingly or not, and a race against time to prevent the destruction of New York City and the deaths of millions of inhabitants.

As well as these main story arcs two other protagonists in the form of the serial killer Sylar and casino-owner and mobster Mr. Linderman are featured throughout the season.

The Heroes culminates when several of the characters paths meet in a climactic meeting at Kirby Plaza in New York.

A cheerleader at Union Wells High in Odessa, Texas, Claire Bennet is anything but normal. The first time that Claire regenerates post-death is after her romance with quarterback Brody Mitchum turns sour. Mitchum tries to date-rape her, knocking her down in the woods and a tree branch gets impaled in her skull. However, while on an autopsy table, Claire gets up and leaves, returning to school the following day, much to Brody's, and everyone else's surprise.

On a news-stand, Hiro finds a comic book with himself depicted on the cover with the words, "I did it!" inside of a though bubble. Hiro flees with the comic and when he reads it in its entirety, finds out that every occurrence was exactly as it had happened.
