Born August 4th, 1949 in Seneca, Kansas, Riggins was a pure workhorse running back that personified the hard-nosed style needed to excel against the brutal linebackers of the time. He ended up being signed as a free agent by the Washington Redskins to start the 1976 season, remaining there until his retirement. Riggins holds multiple rushing records with the Redskins, including 11,352 rushing yards, 2,916 attempts, 104 rushing TDs, and 116 total TDs.
