Small in stature but large on collectibility that this figure. This is New York Mets Jose Reyes first McFarlanes outing, and was only available through the stores at the Shea Stadium and through their minor league affiliate the Brooklyn Cyclones online with a limited production of only 10,000 pieces.
Players History
Born on June 11th 1983 Jose Bernabe Reyes is currently , in Villa Gonzalez, Dominican Republic, a Major League shortstop for the New York Mets and lives in Manhasset, New York. After his fantastic breakout season in 2006 he is considered by many to be the best shortstop in baseball. His speed and power make him an aggressive offensive player whereas his strong arm and range make him a very good defensive player giving him the ability to play any position on the field. Jose Reyes joined the Mets from the minor leagues in 2003, and his debut game was on June 10 a day before his 20 birthday. He had a very good first season with the Mets and finished the season with a 35 game errorless streak at shortstop, a record for that season. But with the addition of Japanese star Kazuo Matsui he was moved to second base but after Matsui failed to deliver Reyes was quickly given his old place at shortstop back again. Best known for his speed and base-stealing abilities his suffered a series injuries through the following seasons including a strained hamstring, a stressfracture in his left fibula. Despite these injuries he continue to play well and ended the season with 60 stolen bases and 17 triples leading all of the Major League Baseball. Previously he had been criticized for his on base percentage, hitting to many fly ballas and swinging bad pitches but in the current season he has shown even more improvement on his 2006 season. His fielding had also been the subject of criticism in the past but many will now argue that he has the strongest arm of any shortstop in the game and has a solid gold glove.
