McFarlane Toys News

The biggest announcement from McFarlane Toys this month is that they are going to re-introduce Classic Chase figure back into their Sports Picks line.

Recently McFarlane made the move to introduce chase figures with only "minor" changes to them. Such as a clean or dirt look, wrist bands or no wrists bands.

However this move has been poorly accepted by collectors who feel that this move has led to the "de-valuing" of the chase figures.

As a result McFarlane has decided that starting with their MLB 2009 Wave 1 release in March 2009.

The new look chase figures will go back to the previous format of offering figures with alternate jerseys and retro looks etc.

This is sure to please fans and it's nice to see McFarlane has taken notice of the fans and collectors comments.

But that's not all...

McFarlane has also announced that there will be a "Gold Ticket" figure to be released in the Cooperstown 6 series.

Feature Babe Ruth in a Yankees 1920's uniform with a DARK BLUE cap and WHITE NY logo, as opposed to a white cap.

ONLY 5 (Yes FIVE!) of these figures will be produced, and two of these are to go into McFarlane's archives.

So that leaves only 3 (THREE) of these that are to be randomly inserted into case.

Each of these figures will be packaged in a box sealed with McFarlane's blue logo security tape.

This will be THE RAREST McFarlane figure EVER produced.

Previously (or currently) the rarest figure was/is the Teemu Selanne figure from the NHL Series 6 line, which to celebrate his record setting rookie year had THIRTEEN of his figures featuring his number 13 jersey he wore during his rookie season and NOT the number 8 jersey featured on the others.

The last one of these that was seen sold online fetched a staggering $8,500 dollars!

So, in the infamous words of Clint Eastwood"

"Is today your lucky day, punk?".
