 Toys R Us and McFarlanes Baseball MLB Series 23 Celebrate The New Season
The release of the first McFarlanes Baseball MLB Series of the season has become as much a sign of the arrival of spring as flowers blossoming, animals awaking from their winter sleep and fresh leaves on the trees. And this season is no different... For the fourth consecutive year Toys R Us will be exclusively stocking the years first series of McFarlanes MLB action figures. This years release is McFarlanes Baseball MLB Series 23 and features eight stars from the MLB:
McFarlanes Baseball MLB Series 23 (Toys 'R' Us Exclusive lineup) - Expected release February 2009 Due April, 2009 If you live outside the USA look out for McFarlanes Baseball MLB Series 23 appearing on the secondary market, especially eBay (see listing on the right), although I expect they are likely to be at premium prices.
Playing Good and Still Going On Jorge Posada In 2007 Posada was selected as interim manger of the team on basis of his experience, Posada proved the decision correct by getting the victory for the Yankees team 10-4 against the Orioles. Posada is the only catcher to have a slugging percentage of .540 and hit .330. By the end of 2007 he had 90 RBI's with 20 home runs and 171 hits. Posada believes in using his body to its best potential instead of exhausting it. He likes to work out on a regular basis and also takes a complete two weeks break from baseball, according to Posada this is the only time of year when he is not playing or training for baseball, but still keeps to minimum workout. Posada believes in natural strength and hard work, he likes to keep things simple. As he often comments with a smile "okay so I am 36 and still playing well." That’s it plain and simple. After Posada's career high 2007 season his 2008 season was rather disappointing after working hard to overcome a troubling shoulder injury. He finally had to succumb to surgery at the end of the season but he returned for the 2009 Spring Training in fine shape. Dustin Pedroia is Boston's second baseman and was awarded the 2007 American League Rookie of the Year. Nicknamed "Pedroia the Destroya" he also helped the Red Sox win the World Series. His good fortune and form continued on into 2008 and he was selected as the starting second baseman for the All-Star game. Figure Stats Crouching figure measures 4 inches at top of cap. Justin is one of the Leagues youngest stars and looks destined to become a top player. Currently playing right field it looks like he'll be anchoring their offense for some time to come. But that's not all because as well as these six Toys R Us Exclusives figures there will be two Toys R Us Exclusives three back: New York Yankees Defensive three pack: Nicknamed the "Bronx Bombers" Derek and Alex are featured here in classic poses with their pinstripe uniform. Carlos, or the "Big Z" was expected to be one of the gems of the free market but the Cubs weren't going to let him go that easily. The Cubs have signed Zambrano on a long term contract extension and is anchoring their rotation as they set their sights on the World Series. Figure Stats Figure measures 5 1/2 inches at top of cap. Miguel is a highly resoected first baseman and is considered by many to be one of the most talented players currently playing. He found himself on the move during the off season when the Tigers made Florida an offer they couldn't refuse and so he joined the Detroit Tigers. The Braves have been plagued by injuries and inconsistencies throughout the 2008 season but Chipper Jones has remained one of the brightest stars on their rosta. Despite having to battle through injuries the Braves ong time third baseman is flirting with hitting .400, which hasn't been achieved since Ted Williams.
