  • NFL Action Figures Wave 2 Tom Brady 3 - New England Patriots QB
  • The New England Patriots won the lottery when they drafted an average quarterback out of Michigan 8 years ago.

Since his 2000 debut, Tom Brady has gone on to win 3 Super Bowl Championships, become 2-time Super Bowl MVP, and won the 2007 NFL MVP. Not bad for pick 199 in Round 6 of the NFL Draft.

Reminiscent of Joe Montana, Brady brings a style of play to the table that is completely unrivaled.

His Patriot team was an incredible 16-0 in the regular season, making them the only team since the ’72 Dolphins to go undefeated in the regular season.

And other than a devastating Super Bowl loss, the Patriots played perfect football the entire season.

The 2007 season started off great for the Patriots. A lot of their players are old and only used to fill positions.

But with the acquisition of Randy Moss, Tom Brady finally had a legitimate target. Brady wasted no time playing with his new toys.

He threw 3 touchdown passes in the Patriots first game against the New York Jets, and had thrown multiple touchdown passes in the first 11 games of the season.

Brady’s impressive numbers earned him the reputation of being the best quarterback in the National Football League.

His poise under pressure and deadly accurate throws helped solidify his place in history as he passed Peyton Manning’s record of 49 touchdown passes in the last game of the season with 50.

For all intents and purposes, Brady played 18 perfect games.

Never in the history of the NFL had one player scored so highly in every major statistical category (relative to position).

Brady received every vote but one in the MVP race (Favre), and unanimously won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award.

Even in a Super Bowl loss, Brady still performed like a true champion.

  • NFL Action Figures DeMarcus Ware - Dallas Cowboys DE
  • Throughout the history of the NFL, linebackers have been thought of as mean and nasty brutes that would sooner crush your ribs than say a word to you.

Unfortunately for many offensive players, this seems true by and large. Keeping the tradition of big and unruly beats of the gridiron alive, DeMarcus Ware is a physical specimen to behold.

This 6-foot-4-inch monstrous player out of Troy State is one the league’s premier pass rushers. The Dallas Cowboys consider themselves lucky to be playing with him instead of against.

As stated by head coach Wade Phillips, Ware is the quintessential outside linebacker. His 2007 season was a coming-out party for his intensity and talent.

During the 2007 season, the Cowboys offense received most of the credit. With high scoring games and huge win margins, it’s easy to forget that Dallas’ defense was playing some great football.

With Ware making every offense he faced uncomfortable, the Cowboys front 7 was a solid force, allowing minimal rushing yards. Ware’s presence became known to opponents in the third game of the season when he racked up 2 sacks against the Chicago Bears.

He also had 6 solo tackles that game, proving that his ample speed is a commodity to the Cowboys.

Dallas’ secondary lacked speed and talent, save Roy Williams, so the front 7 of the defense was in charge of holding drives to a minimum.

Playing against opponents such as the Giants, Packers, Eagles, Panthers, and Vikings, this task is easier said than done.

All told, Ware had one of the best seasons for an outside linebacker in the NFL, and the Cowboys finished atop the NFC with a record of 13-3.

  • NFL Action Figures Brandon Jacobs - New York Giants RB
  • In 2006, the New York Giants seemed to have all the pieces in place. They had a quarterback with a championship pedigree, a tight end with the mentality of an ultimate fighter, a gifted wide receiver, and one of the best running backs in the National Football League.

It’s a mystery why Plaxico Burress, Jeremy Shockey, Eli Manning, and Tiki Barber couldn’t play together as one and win.

But once Barber retired and Shockey was on the bench, the pieces fell into place. The man to take over for Tiki was Brandon Jacobs.

At first glance, this 4th round pick out of Southern Illinois didn’t turn many heads.

But the 2007 Giants were doing something the Giants of yesteryear weren’t doing: playing as a team.

2007 started off slowly for Jacobs. He only ran the ball 6 times in the opener against Dallas, and racked up a paltry 26 yards.

Jacobs was sidelined the next 3 games, and didn’t reappear on the field until week-5 against the Jets, where he rushed for 100 yards on 20 attempts and scored a touchdown.

Jacobs would rush for 100+ in 2 of the next 3 games, and help his team gain momentum as the season winded to a close.

In week 16, the Giants went on the road against a determined Buffalo Bills team with their playoff destiny hanging in the balance.

Proving that he belonged on the roster, Jacobs emphatically rushed for 143 yards on 25 attempts and scored 2 touchdowns.

The playoffs would bring modest success to Jacobs personally, but his effort on third-downs helped the Giants to prolong drives and win 3 road playoff games en route to a Super Bowl Championship.

The 2007 season is just the tip of the iceberg for Jacobs. At only 26 years of age, he has a lot of football left to play.

  • NFL Action Figures Adrian Peterson - Minnesota Vikings RB
  • Some players strike lucky when they come into the NFL and quickly become superstars.

For most, it’s a long and winding road that’s marred with hard work and occasional disappointment. For Adrian Peterson, the rise to prominence was almost instantaneous.

It’s not an easy task. The athletes in the National Football League are among the best in the world.

If you’re fast, then someone else is faster. If you can break tackles, they have someone who can break your legs.

It’s a nasty game, especially for a running back. Peterson is a modern day miracle worker when you glance at the body of work for his 2007 rookie season.

Drafted by the Minnesota Vikings with the 7th overall pick in the 1st round, Peterson’s star lit up quick and is burning as bright as ever.

The Minnesota Vikings are a proud franchise. However, pride alone doesn’t win football games.

Peterson came in and quickly changed the attitude in Minnesota.

With his 100 yard performance in his first-ever start, the Vikings crushed the struggling Atlanta Falcons 24-3 and seemed to be on the fast-track to a winning season.

In their next game against the Lions, the Vikings lost in overtime, and went on a bit of a downward slide losing 2 more. Peterson was still playing stellar football during this time, racking up 2 more 100 yard games.

And in week 6 against Chicago, Peterson rushed for 224 yards on 20 attempts.

The standard had been set, and no one outside of Minnesota thought Peterson could give a repeat performance.

But when San Diego came to town in week 9, Peterson exploded for 296 rushing yards, a new NFL record.

Peterson’s 2, 200-yard games in a season by a rookie is an NFL record.

And so is his 1,036 rushing yards in an 8-game span.

With 3 NFL records in his rookie season, Peterson is already a favorite for any fantasy draft, and is widely considered the best running back in the league – even over Tomlinson.

  • NFL Action Figures Wave 2 Devin Hester - Chicago Bears KR/PR
  • It’s not normal for one man to be so much more talented than the rest of the field.

This applies to everything in life, but especially in football.

The NFL is where you can always expect to find an equal playing field. No one player is so much better than another that he can make the entire opposing team look foolish.

At least that was the thought process before Devin Hester came along.

Drafted in 2006 by the Chicago Bears, Devin Hester is the premier return specialist in the National Football League.

The job doesn’t pay superstar money, and it definitely puts you at risk every play, but Hester seems determined to embarrass opponents every time he touches the football.

To run toward people who are trying to hurt you is a little crazy itself. But to actually succeed, well, that’s just insane.

In 2007, Devin Hester would make a permanent mark on the world of sports. He was already playing at full potential as a rookie in 2006.

His first season was defined on the first play of the Super Bowl, when a nonchalant Tony Dungy elected to kickoff to Hester on the opening play.

After Hester returned the kick for a touchdown, the plan changed slightly.

At the start of the ’07 season, you would think that teams had learned a lesson.

Unfortunately for all who Hester has scored on, some coaches are too stubborn to change. Hester returned a total of 4 punts and 2 kickoffs for touchdowns in the 2007 season, and even split time as a wide receiver, where his talents for catching on a route began to flourish.

After the end of the 2007 season, Hester began contract negotiations.

A dispute would cause him to miss some mandatory training camp time, but the Bears have reconciled with Hester, and have signed him to a 4-year deal with an excess of $40-million.

  • NFL Action Figures Wave 2 LaDainian Tomlinson 6 - San Diego Chargers RB
  • Perhaps it’s just a freaky coincidence, but a lot of today’s NFL superstars are from little colleges that no one has ever heard of.

It could be due to the NCAA’s insistence on their BCS system, which promotes only the top-name schools to the masses.

Or perhaps we only look for the popular schools because we’re front runners.

Either way you slice it, you can’t deny the talent that’s coming out of the little-known schools.

In 2001, the San Diego Chargers picked up LaDainian Tomlinson out of Texas Christian. Since he’s been in the league, all he’s done is rush for over 10,000 yards, 115 touchdowns, and has a career average of 4.5 yards per carry.

Not bad for someone ignored by mainstream media until 2004.

2007 brought Tomlinson the insurmountable task of outdoing his 2006 multi-record breaking season.

One of the most stellar seasons by a running back in NFL history, Tomlinson seemed more than ready to give a repeat performance.

He was in the best shape of his life, and disappointed and set for vengeance due to the way the Patriots had acted in the playoffs after defeating his Chargers.

But with new head coach Norv Turner, the Chargers offense was terrible out of the gate, and Tomlinson only rushed for 25 yards on 17 attempts in their 14-3 win over the Chicago Bears.

The Chargers would lose the next 3 games on the schedule, and Tomlinson didn’t break the 100 yard mark until week 4 of the season against a weak Kansas City defense.

Tomlinson and the Chargers got on track in week 6, and he rushed for 198 yards on 24 attempts against the Oakland Raiders.

Tomlinson helped to keep the winning spirit alive as the Chargers went 11-5 and beat both the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts in the playoffs.

In the AFC Championship, Tomlinson bruised his knee early in the game and sat out for the duration. With his contribution of 5 rushing yards, the Chargers couldn’t hold off the Patriots and ultimately lost 21-12.

  • NFL Action Figures Wave 2 Ben Roethlisberger 2 - Pittsburgh Steelers QB
  • It’s hard to live up to the elevated expectations if you’re a quarterback in the AFC.

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, arguably two of the very best to ever play the game, are making defenses look silly week in and week out.

But as a Super Bowl winning quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger has proved he belongs in that class after only 4 years of football.

Big Ben has only a few bad games to his credit, and even those can possibly be attributed to a motorcycle accident he suffered in the ’06 off season.

As it stands now, with the help of an impressive 2007 season from Ben and the Steelers, Roethlisberger is one of the game’s top QBs.

With a strong and accurate arm, Roethlisberger also has an uncanny ability to read defenses and evade the pass rush.

With all the bad publicity Roethlisberger received after the ’06 season, he exploded in the 2007 opener, and silenced all critics with an impressive 4 touchdowns in a 34-7 win over division rival Cleveland.

Roethlisberger kept up the stellar play, and in his first 3 games, his average QB rating was 100.

After a gut-wrenching loss against Arizona, Big Ben once again seemed mortal, and the Steelers proceeded to struggle sporadically for the remainder of the season.

Roethlisberger played solid football in ’07, throwing for at least 160 yards in 15 of 16 regular season games.

A record of 11-5 earned the Steelers a home playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After a great first half of football, Roethlisberger seemed to become unnerved, and threw 3 interceptions in a 31-29 loss.

Roethlisberger is a solid football player and a natural at the QB position. With a healthy line and supporting cast, he can easily rival the two top dogs in the AFC.
