Twilight is a modern day Romeo and Juliet, a story of forbidden love, tragedy, sorrow and happiness. A story of compassion, courage and strength. But this Romeo and Juliet are essentially different to those we've read about and watched before.

In this story our "hero" is not a love-lorn boy from the streets but an ageless vampire, and our heroine a young, innocent college girl.

Twilight- The Novels

In three years, Stephenie Meyer has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon. The Twilight Saga's translation rights have been sold in 39 countries and over 42 million copies have been sold worldwide. The last book in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, sold 1.3 million copies in its first day on-sale, breaking publisher records.

Twilight The Movie

The long awaited Twilight: The Movie was released on November 21, 2008 and became an immediate success both with fans of Stephenie Myer's books and critics.

Since its opening the movie version of Twilight has grossed over $340 million worldwide and debuted at #1 at the box office with $70 million, making it the highest debut for a female director.

Catherine Hardwicke, Twilight's director trained as an architect at the University of Texas, and started in film as a production designer.

She designed over 20 films, including Tombstone, Tank Girl, Three Kings, and Vanilla Sky. Her debut as a feature film co-writer and director was the Sundance award winning Thirteen.

She has also directed Lords of Dogtown, The Nativity Story.

Starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, TWILIGHT tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, and becomes drawn to Edward Cullen, a pale, mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away.

But neither can deny the attraction that pulls them together...

even when Edward confides that he and his family are vampires.

Their unorthodox romance puts her in physical danger when Edward's nemesis comes to town and sets his sights on Bella.

A New Moon, the second installment in the Twilight franchise and directed by Chris Weitz, who also directed American Pie, About a Boy, and The Golden Compass, is scheduled for a 2010 release.

Twilight The Figures

Back in the mid-ninties a TV series called Buffy the Vampire Slayer catapulted its two stars in the limelight and the hearts of millions of fans both male and female.

The series lasted for seven successful seasons and fans snapped up all and any memorabilia they could find featuring Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Bor the two main actors.

Buffy was probably one of the most influential points when women suddenly became interested in action figures.

Up until this time the hobby was considered a mainly geeky male past-time but but that soon changed.

Suddenly the ladis were chasing David Bor memorabillia as much as the men were snapping up Sarah Michelle Gellar products.

Everthing from Angel trading cards to the Moore Action Collectible figures were disappering of shop shelves as quickly as they were being stocked.

This was the start of a new trend in action figures and since then the ladies have firmly established their presence in the action figure market.

The latest heart throb to take the market my storm is Robert Patterson as Edward Cullens from the hit movie Twilight.

With several Edward Cullens figures due to be released it seems the ladies can't get enough of him.

The first of the Edward Cullens figures to hit the market will be the 7-inch Edward and Bella figures from Neca and 17-inch Edward and Bella figures from the top Doll/Figure manufacturer Tonner Dolls who are well known for their premium figures.

With another three books already available and a second movie in production it looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of Edward Cullens in the future.
